» DON’T GET CARRIED AWAY WITH “ACES”
-
It’s a great feeling when you get dealt AA and two people to your left go all-in!
-
YES! Aces are a huge HUGE hand! Heads up against any other hand other than its twin you are a massive 78 percent favourite. They should make you money the vast majority of times you are dealt them. You would think there is no way you could misplay them!!
-
Some players like to limp in with AA, to disguise their hand and then go for the kill!! On the surface this looks like a decent advanced play, but not only is it a high risk, high reward strategy, its often done by players who do not have the skill to read the texture of the flop and realise they need to fold! What fold pocket AA !! never!! Some players cannot accept they have gambled and lost!! Yes it hurts but that’s poker!
- The way to play aces is to try and get heads up in a raised pot with a player. Usually that means 3-4 times the blind raise but on some tables that might only be a 2 times the blind raise while on other tables that might be an all-in maybe with 2-3 or even 4 callers!! I will only slow play aces when I'm in an early position and the the table is stacked deep enough compared to the blinds, and is aggressive. The idea then is to be raised, called in a few spots and then hugely reraised by me. The objective is to take what's in the pot there or to get heads up with only one player.

The secret here is BE PATIENT!
-
Poker is a true “game”, so there is no strategy that definitely works regardless of the standard of your opponents. In other words if a certain strategy was adopted by all players, then a player who deviated from that strategy should win! If everyone on your table is playing tight then you should play loose, its standard poker strategy!
-
These are my top tips for apart from being patient!
-
Most people play these tables when they want some cheap fun for an hour or so. Far too often they play poor starting hands, they don’t play well and finally most importantly over bet pots so, with this in mind bet your strong starting hands hard at the start, you normally get a caller who is looking to double up! Happy days!
-
If you don’t get good hands. Resist the urge to play poor starting hands (easier said than done, I know, if you have had no decent hole cards for about an hour!) looking for a cheap flop, cause you will leak chips. Soon you should double up.
-
Continue to play tight and aggressively but avoid the chip leaders who are more likely to be gamblers if they have accumulated most of the chips) instead pick your points and your hands. You should be entering the pot with a raise more often than a call, but not entering too many hands.

I have watched online play and players playing 90 percent of their hands! Crazy!
